Job Description

Safety Requirements:

  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations including OSHA.
  • Perform safety effort for company vehicles and equipment including inspections, update and maintain in software, equipment list, equipment files.
  • Perform and report accident/incident/citation investigations and follow up on any open claims. Provide immediate response and guidance for serious incidents and emergency situations.
  • Oversee Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements and schedule random screenings.
  • Lead safety meetings with drivers and Conduct safety portion of driver orientations.
  • Maintain and audit employee files ensuring all paperwork and forms are compliant with a DOT audit and properly filed following all company procedures.
  • Create safety material and share with drivers or managers.
  • Review and fight accidents in DATA Q, send to appropriate states, issue discipline if needed.
  • Complete quarterly reports and filings: IFTA, IRP, KYU, 2290 and etc.
  • Driver License reviews and DOT card reviews.
  • Maintain PeopleNet (GPS and ELD) and related record properly
  • Safety reviews (mock) with insurance companies.
  • Monitor driver’s HOS and Monitor daily drivers log identifying unsafe, inefficient activities and providing technical support and training assistance.
  • Conduct and track various trainings to meet company’s expectation.
  • Create and maintain driver’s qualifications files.
  • On/Offboarding procedures of drivers including PeopleNet and TMW.
  • Maintains legal requirements and government reporting regulations and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Oversees maintaining accident kits in trucks, fire extinguisher, accident register forms, triangles or flares, camera.
  • Maintain IRP plates on all fleets and as new ones purchased or terminated Going to SOS to get replacement plates.
  • Identify opportunities for cost improvement to ensure all business accounts stay in profitable.
  • Help HR with workers compensation cases, as assigned.
  • Performs company insurance administration including quote negotiation, claims, reporting, approving invoices and communicating.
  • Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurately.
  • Evaluates, manages and implements standardized programs and information systems, ISO and other regulatory requirements and permits as required.

Support Transportation Requirements:

  • Manage drivers by handling and updating systems for JIT and SPD freight.
  • Handle requests by phone and email from customers and carriers to add, delete or modify routes.
  • Communicate with drivers and provide instructions to ensure successful delivery.
  • Monitor and adjust driver schedules to cover required transportation commitments.
  • Provide effort for retention of qualified drivers.

Driver Recruiting Requirements:

  • Assist qualified candidates in completing their employment applications, and ensure all necessary paperwork is submitted by the candidate.
  • Explore creative methods of sourcing qualified drivers in Michigan and Ohio.
  • Assistance to source, recruit, screen, and interview experienced driver candidates via cold calling, email, computer databases, and internet recruiting resources.
